As an Afternoon & Evening Community Carer, you will support people across East and Mid Devon to remain safe, comfortable and independent in their own homes. You will become part of their everyday routine, helping with the practical things while bringing reassurance, dignity and a familiar face to their day.

No previous care experience is needed. If you are kind, reliable and enjoy helping others, we will provide the training and ongoing support you need to build your confidence and develop a rewarding career in care.

At a glance

• Afternoon and evening shifts: 2:30pm to 10:00pm
• Guaranteed 37.5-hour contract
• Fixed two-week rolling rota
• Alternate weekends
• Paid mileage on top of your salary
• Fully paid induction and training
• Funded qualifications
• Flexible start times may be considered for the right candidate

A working pattern you can plan around

Care work should not mean waiting each week to find out when you are working.

This role comes with guaranteed contracted hours and a fixed two-week rota, giving you a consistent pattern you can plan your life around. You will also support regular customers, giving you the opportunity to build trust, understand their routines and get to know the people you are visiting.

It is a steadier way of working, for you and for the people receiving care.

What you will be doing

Your visits will help people continue living life in the place they know best: home.

Depending on each person’s individual needs, you may support them with:

• Personal care
• Medication
• Preparing meals
• Evening and bedtime routines
• Welfare visits
• Companionship
• Everyday tasks around the home
• Maintaining independence and confidence

Some visits will involve practical support. Others may be about reassurance, conversation or simply making sure someone is comfortable and settled for the evening.

For a person living alone, that familiar visit can make a real difference.

Who this role could suit

You do not need to come from a care background to become a good carer.

What you will need

As this is a community-based role, you will need:

• A full UK driving licence
• Access to a reliable vehicle
• The right to work in the UK
• A kind and caring approach
• Reliability and professionalism
• Good communication skills

You will also need to be available for alternate weekends as part of the fixed rota.
